Make your own winter fairy!

Make your own winter fairy!

With some windy and wet weather keeping little ones cooped up inside this winter, here’s some fairy fun to help keep them entertained.

You will need a pinecone, coloured felt (or card), cotton wool, an old pair of tights, glue, colourful wool…and of course, glitter to create your very own winter fairy!

Step-by-step guide to making a pinecone winter fairy.

  1. To make the head: Stuff 3 cotton wool balls into a pair of natural colour tights and tie a knot then cut away the excess. Draw the eyes, nose, and mouth with a felt tip pen.
  2. To make the hair: Draw a fairy face and cut 10x10cm pieces of colourful wool, and tie together in the middle to create your fairy’s wavy locks.
  3. To make the wings: Cut a pair of fairy wings out of coloured felt and sprinkle with glitter.
  4. Glue the hair to the top of the head. Glue the head to the top of the pinecone (the pointy end) and glue the wings to the back of the pinecone.
  5. Sprinkle some more glitter on top and your winter fairy is complete!

Bring the sunshine & magic indoors.

Bring the sunshine & magic indoors.

The change of season is well and truly upon us! Our days of sunshine are a little shorter, and our skies a little chillier…so naturally it is the perfect time to throw a fairy garden party…inside the warmth of your home of course!

Because even though the outside may be out of bounds on stormy days, your child’s imagination is not!  They may transport their fairies to magical kingdoms with flowers, wild mushrooms and little creatures…or perhaps a picturesque flower garden!

Bring the sunshine, flowers, and magic indoors with our fairy garden range – adorable accessories for your little love to create a delightful fairy garden. Think perfectly manicured grass glade, white picket fence, colourful daisies, magical toadstools, hedgehogs, bunnies, ladybugs and of course, a sprinkle of magic fairy dust to help the flowers and garden creatures come alive at night!

Never one to shy away from arts and crafts! Get out the glue pot these school holidays, snip some colourful card (beautifully patterned origami paper is even better!) into pretty flower shapes, use pipe cleaners for stems, stick on some google eyes, douse in glitter/pompoms/whatever's in the crafts box..and you've got a fairy garden wonderland the littlies will be proud of!

Early on Easter morning, they deliver their Easter eggs to all the children in Easter Land and are the most popular parents around...you will be too if you treat your little ones to this adorable pair! They love nothing more than reading stories and chatting with the rest of the Ester family, well they do love the odd cup of tea and Easter chocolate too...Mrs Bunny has to keep a close on on Mr Bunny as he's known to sneak a few too many!

We've all heard of fairy kings and fairy queens - but have you heard of bunny royalty? Princess Ester has hippity-hopped all the way to our world just in time for Easter celebrations and is the perfect chocolate-alternative gift for littlies. Follow in Princess Ester’s paw-steps with this delicious cupcake recipe.

Talking of super fun and simple activities for little ones, why not make some decorative inedible Easter eggs out of salt dough!

Here's our step-by-step guide to making salt dough Easter eggs:

  1. Salt dough is super simple to make! Mould the dough into the shape of eggs before popping in the oven to dry. Bake at 150 degree Celsius according to size. Don't forget to make some mini eggs for fairies too!
  2. Once dry, it is decorating time! Paint them in bright patterns, add some glitter, and finish with a silk ribbon.
  3. Here’s the important bit...place your mini eggs next to your fairy door to thank the fairies and Easter bunnies for working hard to make Easter such a treat!
